I recently watched this movie and it blew my mind. Just make sure you watch it at a good quality cinema with good quality sound. Oh, and that you don’t sit next to a guy who has to explain everything to his gal … it’s kind of higher grade stuff. Don’t read what the movie is about - just go watch it.

Sunday Times directly addressing Noah. And then surprise, surprise Cell C launches a brand new marketing campaign, announcing Trevor Noah as their CEO, promoted by website banners (fishy?).
In the article ‘If only Cell C had hired Alex Hunter’… by Herman Manson (@marklives) released earlier today, it becomes clear that ‘[Cell C] duped online users with a YouTube video of comedian Trevor Noah bashing mobile companies and Cell-C’s subsequent ‘response’ in full page newspaper ads promising to address consumer issues‘. Needless to say, many consumers feel angered (to put it lightly) by this campaign. What I would like to know is what Noah got out of the whole deal at the cost of his reputation or did this campaign make him even more popular… What do you think? Leave comments below:
‘Values’ need to be taken as assumed and should be manifest in every aspect of your business. You should not have to put a plaque up saying you recycle paper products in this office. “If you don’t, you are a jerk,” says Hunter.
‘Cell C has already been taken to task for not responding to complaints posted on Twitter regarding its campaign, when it had just positioned itself as social media friendly with its newspaper ads’.
The next evolution of dance begins in the groundbreaking, provocative first installment of The LXD: ‘The Uprising Begins’. From visionary writer/director Jon M. Chu (STEP UP 3D), ‘The Uprising Begins’ chronicles the journey of seemingly ordinary people who discover they have extraordinary powers and must choose their place in an epic war between good and evil.
There’s high school outcast Trevor Drift (Bboy Luigi) uncovering his family’s dangerous secret, fallen soldier Sp3cimen (Madd Chadd) running from his dark past, and unassuming hero Elliot Hoo (Glee’s Harry Shum Jr. - LOVES him!) haunted by newly discovered supernatural gifts. All of whom are called to fulfill their destiny and join The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers. Each of their stories showcases the unbelievable flips, spins and twists that have already made The LXD a pop cultural phenomenon and one of the most highly anticipated films ever released.
Season one is currently showing. Each episode is about 5 minutes long and only available online from Hulu (unfortunately this video library can only be streamed within the United States at this stage) but the teaser above is well worth a watch. Via @LoveTheCool
PS Rumor has it that all episodes will be available internationally at the end of September … we’re keeping our fingers crossed!
Or get bidding straight away by heading over to bidorbuy. Author Lauren Beukes says: “I’m expecting lots of last-minute action and while Borne Bare and Bi-Polar Bare are already over R2000, the others are still ridiculously affordable for one-of-a-kind artworks by hot South African designers. Don’t forget it’s for a good cause – all proceeds of the auction to The Suitcase Project and paying for school fees for refugee kids living in inner city Joburg”.
Contributing photographer Jimi Rae (cover Africa issue) has recently returned from Nairobi, Kenya where he was documenting work done by the Sumerian Foundation. The foundation finds foster homes for orphaned kids and ensures they receive a complete education. They’ve also set up vocational training within local businesses, providing job opportunities and helping to grow the local economy.
The most successful project is the fashion label Johari. A non-profit social enterprise, Johari was set up by the foundation a few years ago and has now produced its first crop of graduates. Learning all aspects of design, dressmaking, production and business, these young girls are equipped with the tools they need to flourish in business. All garments are hand-made with locally sourced materials and proceeds from each graduate collection go back into the fund for Sumerian projects.
“This year I had the privilege of shooting some of the garments produced by these young girls and was utterly amazed by the quality and the passion they had for their work,” says Jimi. “All too often features about Africa show the darker side of this amazing continent, but here is a programme that works so hard in a positive way to turn around some of the social problems and to show us the colour, vibrancy and life that bursts out from all over Africa”.
A few days ago we gave you a taste of the fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt’s, latest fashion collection. Now he has been presented with a special PUMA singlet, in which he will compete against Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell in the much anticipated 100m race at the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm on Friday. Designed by Skinny Digital, a renowned Swedish artist, the unique singlet features graphical elements close to Usain Bolt’s heart, but with a special Swedish style.
Skinny Digital used the PUMA Bolt collection as the inspiration for the singlet, as it features graphical elements that Bolt himself created. The back of the singlet has Bolt riding a lion, a symbol of Jamaican culture. The words “To Di World” are the name for the iconic pose of the greatest track and field showman. On the day he launched the new PUMA Bolt collection in Stockholm, the sprinter saw the finished singlet design for the first time along with a matching new spike colorway, and was excited about both.
“I love it, it’s really good. A French artist designed a great singlet for me when I ran in Paris a few weeks ago, I was the best looking guy on the track,” said Bolt, when presented with the singlet. “The Swedish artist Skinny Digital has certainly matched his efforts, I’ll be very happy to run in this on Friday.”
German artists Mark Landwehr and Sven Waschk have returned to Chicago to present their latest work for coarse, the solo exhibition, “glimpse of truth” at the Rotofugi Gallery. The exhibition reveals the artists’ latest sculptures, photographs and paintings. For the first time coarse shows the full life cycle of their characters, unveiling a story of false and fragile friendships within a life of meaninglessness.
The pieces on display include 1:1 statues (fiberglass) of noop and paw as embryos, as well as an almost lyrical piece “false friends in pain”, depicting the characters in the last seconds of their friendship. Visitors can also view a multitude of resin sculptures, several large format hand painted canvases, photographic works and a spectrum of original art objects that give new light to the future of coarse.
All pieces shown at the exhibition are hand crafted by the artists in their studios in Hamburg (Germany) and Hong Kong, and are accompanied by original music composed especially for “glimpse of truth”.
Visitors to Chicago had the exclusive chance to lend the “false friends in pain” a helping hand, and take them home to heal. A handcrafted resin 13inch resin edition, packed in beautiful wooden boxes, was made available during the first days of the show but was sold out in minutes.
